In May 2000, I took a trip to Utah and Las Vegas with my boyfriend Chris and some other friends--Su-Lin, her husband Dave, and Remco. We flew to Las Vegas and rented a car, and the next day drove to a cabin about an hour outside of Zion National Park in Utah.

We spent a great day at Zion hiking trails, the best of which was the Angel's Landing Trail. It was a 1700 foot climb, and the last half mile had a sheer drop on either side. The view at the top was gorgeous, and well worth the trip. We found two rock climbers relaxing there, and I asked them how long it had taken to do the climb. "Two days, two hours."

On the way back, we stayed in Vegas overnight and spent some time wandering around in the 105 degree heat before our flight left that evening. We saw Seigfried and Roy, which is the quintessential Vegas experience.
